Sun, Sun, Sun............

WHAT IS THAT? THE SUN
WHERE DID IT COME FROM?
Hurricane Irene brought down many trees on Long Island causing severe damage to homes as well as power outages. We live in a very oaky area.  In fact, our street, Baxter Avenue, borders an area known as The Oaks where the houses are a tad more expensive than ours.  It seems the more fieldstone one has, the more high level is your domicile. We have a few such stones framing our doorway.  Anyway, four of the families on our block decided to cut down an oak each.  The corner, us, and next- three in a row, then the home opposite the third house  Different workers did each oak in successive weeks and as each tree was chopped, more light appeared. Though we have southern exposure we have always had to keep the lights on during the day because of the extensive spreading branch foliage and the Sequoia like height of our oaks.. Now Liam can see the dogs walked along the boulevard from his perch on the couch rimIn the winter the sun glowed early but barely due to the shorter day, so we have always been craving light.
The kitchen is bright and the sun actually produces an image of the window on the floor. Liam loves the new sun. As we know pets will find a patch of warm sunlight whenever it appears.  His loveseat, yes, it is his.
His half of the bed, yes, it is his half
Did we lose nature's ambiance by taking down these trees?  No  There are many trees remaining.   We still have three in the front.  Light is a good thing.  Outside Liam has a shadow.  He is bewildered by this new afternoon light and a leafless driveway.
ARE THERE TWO OF ME?

And the title Sun, Sun, Sun comes from, yeah, you know-click and enjoy Here Comes the Sun
Woof, Woof

  1. Trees are fine, except when they fall on your house or car. We took one down a couple of years ago with no regrets. It's always great to see George.

  2. Izzy,

I knew you would love hearing and seeing George and what a group he is with!

and you are right, all of us who had our trees cut are very happy. All 4 oaks were right up against our houses.

  3. And Carol, you will remember that when all of the girls in our grammer school were swooning over Paul (the Beatle that is, not your hubby LOL), I was a George fan.

And my wedding song was his "Something"

  4. And my guy was Ringo! Lynne, what a perfect song. So beautiful. I'll have to write a story in which I can use that one.

Our song was a Beatle one also "In My Life"

    Thanks for commenting.
